Get your new year off to a flying start with MM Fitness


Welcome to 2018. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.


I heard someone say recently calories don’t count till after New Year. It’s no bad thing to take it easy.  It’s so important to unwind and take time to celebrate with family and friends.


Personally, I love the festive season. But I have to admit that I also quite like it when the fun and festivities draw to a close. I’m quite happy to take down the decorations and get back to normal. Generally speaking we’re creatures of habit and we thrive on a little routine.


To help you get your new year off to a healthy start, MM Fitness re-opens for 2018 on Wednesday 3rd January at 7am. We look forward to seeing all the old familiar faces and we’re hoping to see some new ones too.


After our Twelve Days of Fitness offer in December, we hope some of our new temporary members will become permanent ones. We’re running an ad in the Courier in January which gives you the opportunity to join MM Fitness as a Full Individual member without any joining fee – a saving of £20. Which we think you’ll agree is no bad thing after the excesses of Christmas.


So, look out for the advert and if you bring it in to the gym, we’ll enrol you as a member with no need to pay the joining fee. As a brand new member of MM Fitness, you’ll get a free gym induction and a personalised programme to help you hit your new year objectives. Whether its weight loss, general fitness or a very specific goal such as a triathlon, we’ve got the equipment, the weights and the classes to help you.


We know you know it already but that start of a new year is a good time to remind ourselves about the obvious benefits of exercise:

  • Once you start burning calories for fuel, you get an almost immediate mood boost.
  • As little as 30 minutes of cardio three to five days a week will add six years to your life.
  • If you add resistance training into the mix you'll not only live longer but also look younger, feel happier, have more energy, and stay slim.
  • And to keep you motivated to carry on, as you work out your lungs get stronger, and you actually protect yourself against colds and flu etc.
  • You’re adding lean muscle, your heart is healthier, and you’re super alert and focused. Your risk of diabetes goes down. And the icing on the cake is that after a workout, you continue to burn calories.
